Paying Homage to “The Artist” with Incomparable Purple Style

They say that April showers bring May flowers. But no one expected that shower to be an Internet full of Purple Rain as we were sadly forced to say goodbye to the artist known as Prince, just one week ago.  It was far too soon. Upon reflection, we love the stylish simplicity of how he was remembered by The New Yorker:NewYorker Cover Story- Purple Rain

Say what you will about Prince Rogers Nelson, the man was a force of nature, rain or shine. Devastating style, gender-bending, and palpable sex appeal, with talent that only comes along once in a generation… maybe forever!  So, for our last post of April, we’re paying homage to The Purple One the best way we know how—with style.

It’s no surprise that Prince chose purple as his favorite hue. It does mean royalty, after all. If you’re hoping to channel a bit of The Artist’s style in your own space, but not feeling a room full of purple haze, choose a complementary wall color, like green, and add a statement piece of plum furniture. Then, be certain to echo the color elsewhere in the room with wall art, rugs, or throw pillows. It’s a simple strategy, but one we promise will make any room sing!  Check out a host of interior design ideas using the color purple here. All Purple_thePHAGshop_Paying Homage to the Artist with Incomparable Purple Style

Another option is to give the space plenty of grape-flavored goodness with an aubergine (a.k.a. eggplant) accent wall.  And if that wall has a fireplace as a focal point, all the better!

Lastly, while spring provides the notion that lavender is simply “Easter egg cheerful,” it really is so much more!  Light purples are not only fresh and cool, but also incredibly calming.  Overwhelmed with all the color choices?  No worries, sit down and mull it over with a glass of fine wine!

Only time can lift the purple haze this loss has left us in, and nothing will ever fill the Prince-shaped hole in our lives. But at least there’s the music…
