The Cousin Itt POP, much like his television counterpart, is small, hairy, and enigmatic. Interestingly, he was not a part of the original cast of characters from the 1938 Charlie Addams cartoon. He was added much later, in the 1964 television series, then subsequently introduced to the comics.  Rumor has it that the 1st Cousin Itt was made of real hair, but since all the actors smoked on set, it was quickly switched to a fire-retardant material.
