Staffordshire dog sculpture.
Lavender.
Made of ceramic.
Approximately 12 inches.
A contemporary replica of the ceramic spaniel dogs habitually placed on mantelpieces in 19th century homes, our large lavender Staffordshire dog sculpture pays homage to the classic earthenware figure, but this time with a colorful twist! Because they were usually placed on top of the mantelpiece to stand guard in the home, these popular decorative figures are often referred to as hearth spaniels or fireplace dogs. This particular design is an impressive foot tall, making it ideal for use on the hearth at the base of the fireplace. Though the Staffordshire figures were historically produced in a variety of dog breeds, including the greyhound, the spaniel style was especially popular due to royalty’s favoring of the King Charles Spaniel breed. While they were traditionally used in matching pairs, we sell this large lavender Staffordshire dog sculpture individually and encourage you to mix and match! Made of ceramic. Approximately 10″ long x 12″ high. Sold individually.
