The start of a new year is a milestone that’s always worth celebrating, so once again, we’re excited to say, “Happy New Year!” to our PHabulous PHriends & PHamily.  At PHAG, we’ve always got our eye on the trends, and in 2019, we’ll be devoting our blog to a series of posts that ensure our customers are 100% in the know. This is your one-stop-shop for insider info on 2019’s top trends- so Happy New Trends! With plans to exhibit at both the PHS Philadelphia Flower Show in March and DragCon New York in September, this year you’ll also have the chance to see our on-trend wares up close and personal from Philly to NYC.

Without further ado…

It’s time to cozy up to our first new trend for 2019- Hygge!  Pronounced hoo-guh, this is actually the Danish word for cozy or contentment, and the year ahead will mark the transition from stark, sterile home environments to cozy environments illuminated by personal style!  At PHAG, we’re big advocates of comfort- so from being comfortable in your home to being content in your own skin, count us in as a key player in the year of hygge.

In many ways, embracing hygge means embracing balance.  The coziest environments are those that create harmony- particularly in unexpected ways.  Don’t be afraid to blend dark leather furnishings with bright white walls or cabinetry, or mix rustic woods with plush textiles.  With all we’ve learned about gender fluidity,  you should also feel free to combine traditional masculine décor styles with a hyper-feminine aesthetic without fear- after all, a home should be a reflection of the people who inhabit the space, and nothing about having a dining room that looks like a retail store vignette is hygge!  Hygge is all about creating the perfect harmony in your space and you’ll most definitely know it when you see (and feel) it!
