We’re halfway through 2018, a blog year devoted to Celebrating Icons & Marking Milestones. In our first six months, we’ve payed homage to a number of figures and made note of several significant moments that have shaped popular culture over the last 50 years. However, in our current social climate, we would be remiss not to connect some of our light-hearted PHun with this theme, to some of the more serious aspects of our daily life. And so, in this post we open with a reminder to all of our readers that as people, we all have a shared responsibility to one another. A responsibility to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. A responsibility to both respect and protect one another. A responsibility to serve the interests of the many, and not the few. A responsibility to remember that it does, indeed, take a village, people! Of course, a serious opener like that serves as the perfect segue to marking the 40th Anniversary of the musical mega-hit Macho Man by legendary disco troupe, The Village People, in true PHAG PHashion!
Here in the northeast it’s been a hot, humid, and incredibly rainy summer! All of this tropical weather has us thirsting for a PHresh forecast from The Weather Girls. Even though this year marks the 30th Anniversary of when the duo disbanded, according to the experts, it’s gonna’ start Raining Men…in Uniform! When it comes to protecting and serving (up a refreshing summer cocktail)- these guys do it best!
Each set includes one each of “Chip” the policeman, “Asher” the fireman, “Jerry” the sailor, and “Goose” the pilot. Simply perch your Macho Man of choice on the side of your glass and watch as he leaps into action- protecting your beverage from the other thirsty villagers.
