More Major Milestones in Pop Culture History!

We started off the year marking the 25th Anniversary of the loss of an icon (admittedly, not the greatest high note for the start of a new year), so this time around we thought we would celebrate some more upbeat moments in pop culture history that will be marking their 30th, 40th, and 50th Anniversary milestones in the coming months of 2018!  We’re covering all the bases with selections from film, television, and music- so, take your pick!

The 70’s marked a pivotal time in television history, and 1978 was no exception.  On September 14, 1978 an unsuspecting world was introduced to the Happy Days spinoff, Mork & Mindy starring comedic icon Robin Williams and Pam Dawber.  The impact of the show is still evident in everyday items from PHAG’s collection 40 years later- like our Classic TV Man Mugs.

On the heels of the hip-hop superstardom achieved by Run-DMCGangsta Rap PHinally got the voice it was looking for in main stream music, compliments of NWA, with the release of their acclaimed album, Straight Outta Compton, on August 8, 1988.  The album launched a straightforward attack on controversial themes that were important 30 years ago, and remain equally important today!  It’s safe to say, that is the day modern music was forever changed.

Thanks, NWA, for laying the PHoundation for modern hip-hop and, of course, for giving us Something 2 Dance 2!
